Looking back…

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Project completion! This week, myself and my group mates finally submitted our video project! Over the course of the project, I learned a lot, from actual project research to time management and submissions, which I will certainly reflect on and apply my knowledge to future group projects, as well as individual projects.    Throughout the course of this project, myself and my group mates have done a lot of individual research, but I found myself procrastinating from time to time, especially when it came to writing the script, since I wanted our video to be very informative, yet enjoyable and fun to watch. Next time, I think I should believe in myself a little bit more and avoid holding myself back, since it only puts more pressure on myself and/or my group mates in the long run.   Although we happened to be a little tight on time in the end, we got everything finished and I’m extremely happy with the outcome of our project. Our ...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Filming This week, myself and my group mates have finished our script and we are now moving onto the recording stage of our project! Unfortunately, we’re beginning to record a lot later than we had anticipated, however, we’ve gathered all of our necessities for our recording process and are hoping to dedicate less than a day to complete it.   Additionally, we dedicated a day to familiarising ourselves with our borrowed recording camera and microphones. Sadly, our microphones don’t work, but we came up with an alternative and we’re still keeping our hopes up in delivering a video with great quality and audio.    Personally, I’ve been finding myself a little stressed about the execution of this project, mainly because this is very different from projects that I’ve worked on in secondary school, which were usually PowerPoint presentations. With that being said, my group mates and I have discussed the setting of our recording, and t...

Another revision

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Last week, I got the opportunity to give and receive feedback from my course mates, which I found to be a lot more enjoyable than last time. However, I think that there are certainly many ways in which I can improve on in terms of giving feedback to others, and I read three articles in order to help myself with that! The most helpful and effective information that I received from reading the three articles are the comments on structure. I think that this will help me to formulate better questions and opinions in the future.   Besides that, I was very happy with the feedback that I have received. I was glad to see that my course mates understood my writing and the point that I was trying to convey throughout my blog post. I tend to proofread and recheck my blogs for a long amount of time before publishing them, so it’s enlightening to see that my hard work pays off! Rewrite #2 ༄

Hi and welcome back to my blog! This week I expanded my knowledge on the topic of media ethics, which can be broadly defined as a branch of ethics that addresses moral issues arising in connection with creation and distribution of information through the means of mass media. Ethics In the beginning, it was a little difficult for me to understand how ethics wrapped around the topic of digital media. However, with the help of four videos, I began to understand the importance of ethics in the digital world. After watching ‘‘Ethics’’, I began to understand the definition of that term and why it is important for us to apply ethics in our everyday use of digital media. Our ethics help us understand and interpret right or wrong in society, which could also be applied to the digital world as there is lots of spaces where we shouldn’t involve ourselves in. ————   The second video that I had watched is called ‘‘The medium is the message’’, where the creator explains the quote in a litt...

Media Compression ☆

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! This week, I delved further into the area of practical digital media production. I expanded my knowledge on how media compression works and why it’s important for the quality and delivery of digital media artefacts.  I watched five videos to help my understanding of the topic and I must admit, it was quite difficult for me to grasp my understanding of all of the information, but I made sure to watch the videos a couple of times and take many notes along the way!  Media Compression The first video that I have watched is called ‘‘Video Compression as Fast As Possible’’. I’d say that this video was the trickiest for me to understand, as there was a lot of terms mentioned that sounded completely new and unfamiliar to me. This video explains the definition of two types of video compression: -          Spatial (intraframe) compression – is only applied to individual video frames. This type of compres...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! ^-^ Production process… This week, myself and my group mates are beginning to come towards the end of our production stage, and we’re starting to add the final touches to our script. After we divide the script amongst each other, we will begin to record our parts in hopes of bringing them altogether by the end of next week so that we can ensure to edit the clips and elevate the viewing experience by adding background music, various case study/survey facts as well as relevant short clips and videos.   As of now, I am in charge of finalising our script and adding any additional information, but also removing any information that is unnecessary or seems a little bit off topic from the point that we will try to convey.   So far, the three of us have borrowed recording equipment that was available for us in college, and we’ve also purchased our own microphones to ensure that our video will have the best quality it possibly can. We haven’t...

Peer Review #2

Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week, I peer reviewed two blogs written by my course mates, but before I did so, I read an informative article called ‘‘The Power of Giving Feedback and Receiving Feedback in Peer Assessment’’, written by Lan Li and Valentina Grion. This article stated that 41 students had taken an online survey to record results and outcomes of their participation in a peer assessment activity where they gave and received feedback. According to the results, although students gained knowledge through both, the giving and the receiving processes, they learned more from giving feedback, and their preference for giving feedback was higher than receiving it, too.   Personally, I found this weeks peer reviewing experience a lot more enjoyable than the first one. I felt a little more comfortable in terms of giving feedback, and I reminded myself that my feedback is something that the writer could greatly benefit from, bumping their blog posts up to a higher standar...
