Post Production ˙ᵕ˙

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!

Filming

This week, myself and my group mates have finished our script and we are now moving onto the recording stage of our project! Unfortunately, we’re beginning to record a lot later than we had anticipated, however, we’ve gathered all of our necessities for our recording process and are hoping to dedicate less than a day to complete it.
 
Additionally, we dedicated a day to familiarising ourselves with our borrowed recording camera and microphones. Sadly, our microphones don’t work, but we came up with an alternative and we’re still keeping our hopes up in delivering a video with great quality and audio. 
 
Personally, I’ve been finding myself a little stressed about the execution of this project, mainly because this is very different from projects that I’ve worked on in secondary school, which were usually PowerPoint presentations. With that being said, my group mates and I have discussed the setting of our recording, and they said that it’ll be okay if I do my part of the recording at home, since I’m a lot more comfortable in this setting, whereas they prefer to do theirs on campus.
 
Besides that, I will begin looking into YouTube clips to acquaint myself with various editing softwares and hopefully, learn a few tips and tricks in order to edit my part of the video to the best of my ability!
 
I’m very excited to edit and begin to see our project come together at last!

This week, I read two opinion pieces called ‘ ‘Digital Media companies found lacking in helping users understand the online environment’’ and ‘‘Ofcom research: Nearly half of people across the UK nations have come across false or misleading information about Covid-19’’. After I took my time to read and understand the two, I attempted to read a journal article called ‘‘News media literacy, perceptions of bias, and interpretation of news’’.  My experience of reading this week was surely more difficult than the others, however, I challenged myself and tried my best to understand the style of writing that was used in both opinion pieces, and the academic writing used in the journal article.   I found the opinion pieces to be significantly more interesting than the journal article. Another revision

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Last week, I got the opportunity to give and receive feedback from my course mates, which I found to be a lot more enjoyable than last time. However, I think that there are certainly many ways in which I can improve on in terms of giving feedback to others, and I read three articles in order to help myself with that! The most helpful and effective information that I received from reading the three articles are the comments on structure. I think that this will help me to formulate better questions and opinions in the future.   Besides that, I was very happy with the feedback that I have received. I was glad to see that my course mates understood my writing and the point that I was trying to convey throughout my blog post. I tend to proofread and recheck my blogs for a long amount of time before publishing them, so it’s enlightening to see that my hard work pays off! Active Reading 📖

This week, I have read ‘Using Student-Constructed Questions to Encourage Active Reading’ by author Ernest Balajthy. This paper was published by the International Literacy Association and Wiley in February of 1984. I think that this has implications for my critical reading as this article has been peer reviewed which gives it credibility. However, this paper was published almost thirty years ago. Therefore, it is likely there is more research done on this topic, possibly, expanding upon it or introducing new techniques.    After reading the paper, I have come to the conclusion that it is primarily aimed at educators, teachers and lecturers in order to help students of all age groups learn about the study technique of active reading.
