Technological Evolution 彡
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
This week, I took the time to watch five videos to expand my knowledge on the history of digital media, how it has evolved, and what the future of digital media might hold for us. Along with that, I looked into the positives and negatives of digital media in our society.

The first video that I have watched was ‘‘Technology Evolution | 100,000 BC – 2020’’. After watching this video, I was amazed to find out that various bits of technology were actually invented very recently, such as the iPhone. It was invented in 2007, and is now one of the most popular brands used.
I think that us humans have evolved technology in the greatest ways, for example, I was astonished by the major difference between the first personal home computer, Apple 1, which was invented in 1976 and the first laptop, which was invented in 1981, which is now something you can find in almost everyone’s homes.
This video was really interesting and it made me open my eyes as to how easier it is to communicate and access various things around the world with the use of todays technology.
The second and third videos that I have watched, were ‘‘History of Media Literacy’’, parts one and two. These videos were particularly difficult for me to wrap my head around, but I made sure to watch them more than once and take notes along the way!
The first of the two parts, focuses on the way media literacy had developed and enhanced its skills with each invention. Additionally, it focuses on the many arguments that have developed throughout history on the topic of media and its literacy, as people were in disagreement about wether or not it’s good for the society. I found this to be very interesting, as these are arguments that are still discussed today, particularly amongst the older generation.
The second video out of the two focuses on the way the media had developed further, along with the skills needed in order to be able to navigate yourself around the media. It also focuses on the great dangers that the media is assumed to hold, especially for children.
Although these videos were packed with information, I wish they were divided between more than two parts, as I’m finding it a little difficult to decide on where I should start in terms of my writing.
The fourth video that I have watched was ‘‘What will the future of jobs be like?’’. This video took me by surprise, as I found out that major changes are expected within the next five years. It is expected that due to division of labour between humans, machines and algorithms, it may displace 85 million jobs worldwide. As well as that, companies are expecting to displace 6% of their workforce by 2025 and it is likely that one in two workers will have the necessity to evolve their skill set.
I was happy to find out that organisations are stating to ensure smooth transitioning for their jobs, so that their workers aren’t under great pressure.
The last and final video that I have watched was ‘‘Digital Transformation in 2030’’. This video focused on the predictions of what the future of media might possibly hold for us, such as:
· New connectivity – 5G based communications.
· New computing – Evolved intelligence of computing.
· New platform – Conversion onto digital platforms.
· New ecosystem – Comprehensive customer oriented commercial solutions.
