˗ˏˋ Introduction to Digital Media ´ˎ˗

Hello! My name is Darja Gubenko and I’m seventeen years old.（＾∇＾）
Some of my hobbies include art, which has been of vast interest to me ever since I was young, as well as photography and editing.
I’ve always loved watching fantasy movies with my family, and I couldn’t help but be extremely fascinated by the editing and special effects in each one. This fascination, as well as my innate love for art, has compelled me to pursue a degree in ‘Creative Digital Media’!

As I mentioned previously, one of my biggest hobbies is art. My interest in art has sparked from a young age and over the years, I have learned that art is so much more than holding a pencil and drawing with it on a piece of paper. Art is not just ‘‘drawing’’, but a vast collection of knowledge accumulated over centuries, including theory, linear perspective, proportions, anatomy etc. I want to apply this knowledge to the ‘Creative Digital Media’ course. I want to discover new things about this course while applying and augmenting my existing knowledge.

Given my interest in editing, photography and screen writing, I am looking forward to modules that expand upon these topics and I’m looking forward to learning about them as much as possible, thus broadening my skill set and enhancing my career opportunities.

However, there are some aspects of this course that I am not particularly familiar with, such as game and sound design, therefore, I am thrilled to be learning things that are new to me.

Lastly, I am looking forward to attending a very exciting annual event called ‘‘The Kaleidoscope Degree Show’’. I would love to see the work of graduate ‘Creative Digital Media’ students and get an impression of what I will be learning in my modules and the knowledge that I will acquire. I feel like viewing people’s work will remind me of what I’m striving for, thus giving me the motivation to learn more and keep moving forward.

Overall, I cannot wait to go in depth of this four year journey that will gift me new and fresh knowledge, skill, perspective and creativity!

This week, I read two opinion pieces called ‘ ‘Digital Media companies found lacking in helping users understand the online environment’’ and ‘‘Ofcom research: Nearly half of people across the UK nations have come across false or misleading information about Covid-19’’. After I took my time to read and understand the two, I attempted to read a journal article called ‘‘News media literacy, perceptions of bias, and interpretation of news’’.  My experience of reading this week was surely more difficult than the others, however, I challenged myself and tried my best to understand the style of writing that was used in both opinion pieces, and the academic writing used in the journal article.   I found the opinion pieces to be significantly more interesting than the journal article. Another revision

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Last week, I got the opportunity to give and receive feedback from my course mates, which I found to be a lot more enjoyable than last time. However, I think that there are certainly many ways in which I can improve on in terms of giving feedback to others, and I read three articles in order to help myself with that! The most helpful and effective information that I received from reading the three articles are the comments on structure. I think that this will help me to formulate better questions and opinions in the future.   Besides that, I was very happy with the feedback that I have received. I was glad to see that my course mates understood my writing and the point that I was trying to convey throughout my blog post. I tend to proofread and recheck my blogs for a long amount of time before publishing them, so it’s enlightening to see that my hard work pays off! Looking back…

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Project completion! This week, myself and my group mates finally submitted our video project! Over the course of the project, I learned a lot, from actual project research to time management and submissions, which I will certainly reflect on and apply my knowledge to future group projects, as well as individual projects.    Throughout the course of this project, myself and my group mates have done a lot of individual research, but I found myself procrastinating from time to time, especially when it came to writing the script, since I wanted our video to be very informative, yet enjoyable and fun to watch.
