Hi and welcome back to my blog! This week I expanded my knowledge on the topic of media ethics, which can be broadly defined as a branch of ethics that addresses moral issues arising in connection with creation and distribution of information through the means of mass media. Ethics  In the beginning, it was a little difficult for me to understand how ethics wrapped around the topic of digital media. However, with the help of four videos, I began to understand the importance of ethics in the digital world. After watching ‘‘Ethics’’, I began to understand the definition of that term and why it is important for us to apply ethics in our everyday use of digital media. Looking back…

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Project completion! This week, myself and my group mates finally submitted our video project! Over the course of the project, I learned a lot, from actual project research to time management and submissions, which I will certainly reflect on and apply my knowledge to future group projects, as well as individual projects.    Throughout the course of this project, myself and my group mates have done a lot of individual research, but I found myself procrastinating from time to time, especially when it came to writing the script, since I wanted our video to be very informative, yet enjoyable and fun to watch. Next time, I think I should believe in myself a little bit more and avoid holding myself back, since it only puts more pressure on myself and/or my group mates in the long run.   Although we happened to be a little tight on time in the end, we got everything finished and I’m extremely happy with the outcome of our project. Active Reading 📖

This week, I have read ‘Using Student-Constructed Questions to Encourage Active Reading’ by author Ernest Balajthy. This paper was published by the International Literacy Association and Wiley in February of 1984. I think that this has implications for my critical reading as this article has been peer reviewed which gives it credibility. However, this paper was published almost thirty years ago. Therefore, it is likely there is more research done on this topic, possibly, expanding upon it or introducing new techniques.    After reading the paper, I have come to the conclusion that it is primarily aimed at educators, teachers and lecturers in order to help students of all age groups learn about the study technique of active reading.
